Why does my webhook get automatically disabled?

Last updated: August 15, 2025

Context

Webhooks in Spacelift may automatically disable themselves when encountering multiple consecutive failures. Users may notice their webhook has been disabled unexpectedly and want to understand why this happens and how they can be notified.

Answer

Webhooks in Spacelift will automatically disable after 10 or more consecutive failures. This is a built-in protection mechanism to prevent continuous failed attempts.

When a webhook is disabled:

  1. A notification is sent to your Spacelift notification inbox

  2. You will need to manually re-enable the webhook once you've resolved the underlying issue

Currently, these webhook disable notifications can only be viewed in the Spacelift notification inbox and cannot be forwarded to external sources.
